Unless you understand the code it's written in, you're probably not going to be able to adapt your EA to work with those changes. If you are one of the many traders who believe that an EA would outperform the market, then perhaps you should give it a try with the MetaTrader Supreme Edition plugin. And perhaps best of all, we offer EAs free of charge for traders!

The world then decided to have fixed exchange rates that resulted in the U.S. dollar being the primary reserve currency and that it would be the only currency backed by gold, this is known as the ‘Bretton Woods System’ and it happened in 1944 (I know you super excited to know that). In 1971 the U.S. declared that it would no longer exchange gold for U.S. dollars that were held in foreign reserves, this marked the end of the Bretton Woods System.

A year or so later I ran across an article about Richard Dennis and the 'Turtle Traders'. I realized: a) people do make money doing these things, b) anyone can learn the methods, c) and there are experts out there who are willing to share their knowledge. I started looking for a good book again and almost immediately found Anna's books. Forex for Beginners was so cheap and the free sample indicated it would be an easy read. Halfway through, and also after reading comments about it on several forums, I was sold on VPA. I decided to re-open my FXCM practice account and try some of her recommendations, then read the next book (A Complete Guide to Volume Price Analysis) while waiting for my account to fund. She recommends not using a practice account for anything more than learning the interface, for several reasons: real money is more meaningful and lessons stick better, the practice account feed is usually not a real live feed even if they say it is, and the practice feed won't show you the sudden spikes in the spread caused by your broker sometimes taking advantage of a fast moving market. Forex for Beginners was very helpful in explaining how the different types of forex brokers' operations can work against your interests if you have the wrong type of broker, and how to find the right type so you're not betting against the house.

The most basic factor influencing currency exchange rates is supply and demand. Proper Forex trading is simply a transfer of accounts from those who have not attained the needed edge through proper education, into the accounts of those who have. This allows the trained Forex trader to apply our simple, rules-based strategy to identify ideal entry and exit points even without access to underlying market research. At Online Trading Academy we will work to help you learn how to do forex trading. Each day's agenda contains 2-3 powerful and fully interactive lectures led by a professional trader combined with 1-2 live trading sessions focusing on market analysis and trade execution.
In the futures market, futures contracts are bought and sold based upon a standard size and settlement date on public commodities markets, such as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In the U.S., the National Futures Association regulates the futures market. Futures contracts have specific details, including the number of units being traded, delivery and settlement dates, and minimum price increments that cannot be customized. The exchange acts as a counterpart to the trader, providing clearance and settlement.

In addition, they offer two premium services which provide access to their ‘Strike 3.0’ product.  You have the option of Advanced or Titanium plans, at US$49* or US$97* per month respectively. In addition to the training aspect, these plans offer more in-depth trading support including alerts and software.  The more expensive plan also includes access to a live trading room and calls, as well as advanced training modules.
Use leverage wisely: As we've already mentioned, Forex CFDs allow you to trade on a margin, or by using leverage. However, just because 1:30 (or 1:500) leverage is available, it doesn't mean that you need to use it. At Admiral Markets, while there is a maximum amount of leverage available to our clients, they are still able to choose the amount of leverage they use when they are trading, which may be anything up to that amount.

This depends on how liquid the currency is, or how much of it is being bought and sold at any one time. The most liquid currency pairs are the ones with the most supply and demand in the Forex market, and this supply and demand is generated by banks, businesses, importers and exporters, and traders. Major currency pairs tend to be the most liquid, with the EUR/USD currency pair moving by 90-120 pips on an average day.

Despite being able to trade 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, you shouldn’t (Forex trading is not quite 24.7). You should only trade a forex pair when it’s active, and when you’ve got enough volume. Trading forex at weekends will see small volume. Take GBP/USD for example, there are specific hours where you have enough volatility to create profits that are likely to negate the bid price spread and commission costs.

Big news comes in and then the market starts to spike or plummets rapidly. At this point it may be tempting to jump on the easy-money train, however, doing so without a disciplined trading plan behind you can be just as damaging as gambling before the news comes out. This is because illiquidity and sharp price movements mean a trade can quickly translate into significant losses as large swings take place or ‘whipsaw’.
Once a pattern emerges, this is known as a Forex indicator because it indicates that there is the potential to make a profitable trade. While there are a range of resources available online for learning about the best Forex indicators, your trading software should ideally have a range of built-in indicators that you can use for your trading, as is the case with MetaTrader 5's indicators. You can learn more about technical analysis in our Introduction to Technical Analysis article.

The broker basically resets the positions and provides either a credit or debit for the interest rate differential between the two currencies in the pairs being held. The trade carries on and the trader doesn't need to deliver or settle the transaction. When the trade is closed the trader realizes their profit or loss based on their original transaction price and the price they closed the trade at. The rollover credits or debits could either add to this gain or detract from it.

Transaction Risk: This risk is an exchange rate risk that can be associated with the time differences between the different countries. It can take place sometime between the beginning and end of a contract. There is a chance that during the 24-hours, exchange rates might change even before settling a trade. The currencies might be traded at different prices at different times during the trading hours. The transition risk increases the greater the time difference between entering and settling a contract.
Leverage: Leverage is capital provided by a Forex broker to bolster their client's trading volume. For example, if you use a 1:10 rate of leverage and have $1,000 in your trading account, you can trade $10,000 worth of a currency pair. If the trade is successful, leverage will maximise your profits by a factor of 10. However, please note that leverage also multiplies your losses to the same degree, so it should be used with caution. If your account balance falls below $0, you may trigger a broker's negative balance protection settings (if trading with an ESMA regulated broker), which will result in the trade being closed. Fortunately, this means that your balance cannot move below $0, so you will not be in debt to the broker.
However, since the Forex market is a global market, it means there is always a part of the world that is awake and conducting business, and during these hours their currencies tend to experience the most movement. For example, currency pairs involving the US dollar experience the most movement during US business hours (16:00 to 24:00 GMT), while the Euro, Pound, Swiss Franc and other European currencies experience the most movement during European business hours, (8:00 and 16:00 GMT).

Hi Dale These are the kind of analysis that I love to see. You are the kind of guy I would like to follow. Unfortunately even with so many good explanations it is dificult to find either time or discipline to put in practise. I have seen so many traders that can understand but fail at the time they need to apply all the rules and principles. I have seen some of your other videos and I have liked them. Do you provide paid forex signals? Regards Antonio
Rule #2:  Winning in forex is all about working the odds in your favor. There will always be a “50/50” chance for where a currency pair may move in the near-term future, but broker commissions will require a “55/45” winning percentage to break even and a “60/40” ratio to be a consistent profitable trader. The ratio has to do with “net dollars”, not trades. Losses are part of this game, but your objective is to cut losers early, but let winners run, that way you get ahead over time.
Being the largest, most active financial market on the globe, it is also the world's most liquid market, meaning it is easy for traders to enter into, as well as exit trades, and for the most liquid pairs, they can do so at a very low cost (even less than a single pip!). This also means that the Forex market is very volatile, creating many opportunities for traders to make a profit on both the positive and negative movements of currency pairs.
It should be noted that there is no central marketplace for the Forex market; trading is instead said to be conducted ‘over the counter’; it’s not like stocks where there is a central marketplace with all orders processed like the NYSE. Forex is a product quoted by all the major banks, and not all banks will have the exact same price. Now, the broker platforms take all theses feeds from the different banks and the quotes we see from our broker are an approximate average of them. It’s the broker who is effectively transacting the trade and taking the other side of it…they ‘make the market’ for you. When you buy a currency pair…your broker is selling it to you, not ‘another trader’.
Is the firm regulated, with solid financials? In the United States, online currency brokerages are regulated by the National Futures Association (NFA), which is the self-regulatory body subject to Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) oversight. Other geographies with solid regulatory frameworks include the United Kingdom/Europe, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore — ideally you should trade with a broker that is regulated by at least one of these regulatory agencies.
One strategy that is a simple forex trading system is following the daily or weekly trend. Review the daily and weekly charts and find a trend that seems well supported and get in. The one caveat about this particular type of trading is that your moves that look small on the chart can span 100's of pips. This means that you need to trade small. Use a conservative allocation when you buy in and allow your trade to develop a bit. Set a reasonable stop and plan out a target. Beginners find this strategy easy because they don't need to watch the market constantly, they can trade when they have time.
Despite being able to trade 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, you shouldn’t (Forex trading is not quite 24.7). You should only trade a forex pair when it’s active, and when you’ve got enough volume. Trading forex at weekends will see small volume. Disclaimer: Trading carries a high level of risk, and may not be suitable for all investors. Before deciding to invest you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with foreign exchange trading, and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.

Knowing how the industry is mapped out is important, because the collective combination of all participants creates the market you trade in. The relative weight of the trading party to the market is measured by how much money that party manages – from billion dollar hedge funds and investment banks, to private traders with a few thousand dollars in action.
