A single pound on Monday could get you 1.19 euros. On Tuesday, 1.20 euros. This tiny change may not seem like a big deal. But think of it on a bigger scale. A large international company may need to pay overseas employees. Imagine what that could do to the bottom line if, like in the example above, simply exchanging one currency for another costs you more depending on when you do it? These few pennies add up quickly. In both cases, you—as a traveler or a business owner—may want to hold your money until the forex exchange rate is more favorable.
Many brokers have moved to zero commissions, but there are other costs associated with trading. As such, new forex traders are always advised to take a conservative approach and use orders, like stop-loss, to minimize losses. High leverage, which should be prudently applied, gives traders the opportunity to achieve dramatic results with far less capital than necessary for other markets. Forex trading requires training and strategy, but can be beneficial for individuals looking to trade currencies. However, it is a very high-risk endeavor. Learning currency trading gives traders a range of exciting new opportunities to invest in.

Investors – Investment firms who manage large portfolios for their clients use the Fx market to facilitate transactions in foreign securities. For example, an investment manager controlling an international equity portfolio needs to use the Forex market to purchase and sell several currency pairs in order to pay for foreign securities they want to purchase.
For trading purposes, the first currency listed in the pair is always the directional currency on a forex price chart. If you pull up a chart of the EUR/USD, and the price is moving higher, it means the EUR is moving higher relative to the USD. If the price on the chart is falling, then the EUR is declining in value relative to the USD. The attached chart shows this.
Risk warning: Trading foreign exchange or contracts for differences on margin carries a high level of risk, and may not be suitable for all investors. There is a possibility that you may sustain a loss equal to or greater than your entire investment. Therefore, you should not invest or risk money that you cannot afford to lose. You should ensure you understand all of the risks. Before using Admiral Markets UK Ltd services please acknowledge the risks associated with trading.
Use leverage wisely: As we've already mentioned, Forex CFDs allow you to trade on a margin, or by using leverage. However, just because 1:30 (or 1:500) leverage is available, it doesn't mean that you need to use it. At Admiral Markets, while there is a maximum amount of leverage available to our clients, they are still able to choose the amount of leverage they use when they are trading, which may be anything up to that amount.

Before jumping in with the sharks, getting trading advice in the highly volatile forex marketplace should be a top priority. Success in dealing with stocks and bonds does not necessarily breed success in currency. Forex classes and trading courses—either through individual mentoring or online learning—can provide a trader with all the tools for a profitable experience.
I'll start with a little background to put this review in context. I started getting interested in forex trading with an email touting some guy that had a "system." I signed up for his live webcam "learn how by watching me trade" membership, figuring I'd take advantage of the 3-month money back guarantee if I learned nothing. At 2 months I couldn't explain his system clearly to myself, and he was changing methods almost every day and frequently seeming to contradict things he'd said before. I kept at it for another couple weeks and then used the money back guarantee. I then started downloading and backtesting all kinds of indicators and EAs and browsing Amazon reviews looking for a better guide. Next I scanned a couple forex books and a couple on trading in general, and I used Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets as an encyclopedia. I continued playing with my practice account for a couple months, but could find nothing that worked consistently enough to be comfortable committing real money, and I lost interest.

Forex hedging: Hedging is a risk management technique where a trader can offset potential losses by taking opposite positions in the market. In Forex, this can be done by taking two opposite positions on the same currency pair (e.g. by opening a long trade and a short trade on the GBP/USD currency pair), or by taking opposite positions on two correlated currencies.

Forex trading as it relates to retail traders (like you and I) is the speculation on the price of one currency against another. For example, if you think the euro is going to rise against the U.S. dollar, you can buy the EURUSD currency pair low and then (hopefully) sell it at a higher price to make a profit. Of course, if you buy the euro against the dollar (EURUSD), and the U.S. dollar strengthens, you will then be in a losing position. So, it’s important to be aware of the risk involved in trading Forex, and not only the reward.

Rule #2:  Winning in forex is all about working the odds in your favor. There will always be a “50/50” chance for where a currency pair may move in the near-term future, but broker commissions will require a “55/45” winning percentage to break even and a “60/40” ratio to be a consistent profitable trader. The ratio has to do with “net dollars”, not trades. Losses are part of this game, but your objective is to cut losers early, but let winners run, that way you get ahead over time.

Currency trading was very difficult for individual investors prior to the internet. Most currency traders were large multinational corporations, hedge funds or high-net-worth individuals because forex trading required a lot of capital. With help from the internet, a retail market aimed at individual traders has emerged, providing easy access to the foreign exchange markets, either through the banks themselves or brokers making a secondary market. Most online brokers or dealers offer very high leverage to individual traders who can control a large trade with a small account balance.

Even if you master every possible method of market analysis and will make very accurate predictions for future Forex market behavior, you will not make any money without a proper money management strategy. Money management in Forex (as well as in other financial markets) is a complex set of rules that you develop to fit your own trading style and amount of capital you have for trading. Money management plays very important role in getting profits out of Forex; do not underestimate it. To get more information on money management, you can read these books:
Fundamental trading is when you follow the news for several countries and play the countries with strengthening economic trends, against the ones with weakening economic trends. This type of approach is pretty easy because it looks at how things shape up over the long term. The complicated portion of it is learning to understand the economic reports and compare them to other countries.
Locating the trend: Markets trend and consolidate, and this process repeats in cycles. The first principle of this style is to find the long drawn out moves within the forex markets. One way to identify forex trends is by studying 180 periods worth of forex data. Identifying the swing highs and lows will be the next step. By referencing this price data on the current charts, you will be able to identify the market direction.
However, since the Forex market is a global market, it means there is always a part of the world that is awake and conducting business, and during these hours their currencies tend to experience the most movement. For example, currency pairs involving the US dollar experience the most movement during US business hours (16:00 to 24:00 GMT), while the Euro, Pound, Swiss Franc and other European currencies experience the most movement during European business hours, (8:00 and 16:00 GMT).
The markets in Japan and Europe (open 2:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.) are in full swing so part-time traders can choose major currency pairs. These include the EUR/JPY pair or the EUR/ CHF pair for major currencies or pairs that involve the Hong Kong dollar (HKD) or Singapore dollar (SGD). The AUD/JPY pair might also work well for part-time traders available during the 5 p.m. to midnight timeframe. While it is crucial to understand the best currency pairs that fit your schedule, before placing any bets the trader needs to conduct further analysis on these pairs and the fundamentals of each currency.
Finally, consider whether the Forex broker offers education and support. Ongoing education is essential to a Forex trader's development and achieving the best results. This is why Admiral Markets offers a range of free articles and tutorials, webinars and online courses, including Forex 101 and Zero to Hero. In addition to educational content and materials, it's also important to consider the availability of support, so you can get your questions answered, and any potential issues dealt with.

The most profitable forex strategy will require an effective money management system. One technique that many suggest is never trading more than 1-2% of your account on a single trade. So, if you have $10,000 in your account, you wouldn’t risk more than $100 to $200 on an individual trade. As a result, a temporary string of bad results won’t blow all your capital.
Day trading - These are trades that are exited before the end of the day, as the name suggests. This removes the chance of being adversely affected by large moves overnight. Day trading strategies are usually the perfect forex trading strategies for beginners. Trades may last only a few hours, and price bars on charts might typically be set to one or two minutes. The 50-pips a day forex strategy is a good example of a day trading strategy.

Knowing how the industry is mapped out is important, because the collective combination of all participants creates the market you trade in. The relative weight of the trading party to the market is measured by how much money that party manages – from billion dollar hedge funds and investment banks, to private traders with a few thousand dollars in action.
The ‘Elliot Wave Theory’, named after Ralph Elliot, is one of the oldest forex strategies. He analyzed the stock price data for around 70 years and found out that human psychology (emotions, fear and greed) drove the market and that it moved iteratively. This is to say that the market switches between optimistic and pessimistic modes. In this strategy, the motive phase unfurls in 5 steps.
As the world becomes more and more interconnected and countries begin to rely on imports and exports to keep their economies functioning, forex trading has risen up as a popular alternative to stock trading. Forex traders enjoy the freer schedule that comes along with the decentralized currency market, which forgoes the traditional 9-to-5 schedule on which Wall Street operates.

Currency trading on margin involves high risk, and is not suitable for all investors. As a leveraged product losses are able to exceed initial deposits and capital is at risk. Before deciding to trade Forex or any other financial instrument you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite.

Determine the profits required to cover any losses: Along with calculating your risks before any trade, it's also worth calculating how much you would need to make to regain those funds in any future trade. It's often harder to earn money back than it is to lose it, simply because your remaining investment pool is smaller, which means you have to make a larger profit (percentage wise) to break even.
Knowledge, experience, and emotional control are the same factors for success in this genre, but it helps to get guidance from mentoring professionals, if you have any desire of jumping into the fray after a short period of time. You need to be aware, unfortunately, that nearly 70% of beginners become impatient early on and leap into the market before completing anything close to preparation. They become quick casualties, as a result.
